INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Windows:

For Windows users, it is recommended that you use "Program Updates." Close all programs and turn off any background software, such as virus protection software. From within EndNote, choose "EndNote Program Updates…" from the "Help" menu and follow the on-screen prompts.

Alternately, select the appropriate update link based on the EndNote X product you purchased (please note that these are .zip files that contain the .msp patch installers):

Update for new - full or student EndNote X version

Update for upgrade EndNote X version

Update for EndNote X volume or site versions

Macintosh:

Macintosh EndNote X users need to download a zipped folder that includes the "EndNote Patcher" application.

To run the EndNote X.0.2 Macintosh Patcher:

1. Before you begin, back up custom styles, filters, connection files and databases.
2. You must have a valid copy of EndNote version X installed in the Applications folder of your hard drive. The patch will not install properly if your EndNote X installation is not located in the Applications folder.
3. Additionally, if you have removed any of your Styles, Filters or Connection files from their associated folders, you may need to reinstall EndNote X.0.0 to recreate these files, as they are required for the patch to properly install. Please contact technical support if you need assistance with this process.
4. Make sure that EndNote X is not open or running.
5. UnZip the Patch Installer and open the resulting 'Patch Installer' folder
6. Double click on the EndNoteX...Patcher.app file
7. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the X.0.2 update
8. Click 'Done' to exit the Patcher application.
