17:
What are the considerations to keep in mind when upgrading to EndNote 8 and later from version 7 or earlier?
|
| Answer:
EndNote versions 8 and later have a new library structure, which is not compatible with EndNote 7 or earlier. More information on this can be found in this FAQ.
EndNote 8 or later should be able to convert any library from an earlier version of EndNote. You may want to use the "Recover Library" command on your library before upgrading to EndNote 8 or later to ensure that the data in the library is cleaned up. Go to this FAQ for information on how to recover a library. If you do have problems converting a library to EndNote 8 or later, we can always help you through the process.
If you are upgrading from EndNote 4 or earlier, you will need to first unformat any documents that you wish to use with EndNote 8 or later, as these versions will not recognize formatted citations that were inserted with EndNote 4 or earlier.
If you have any output styles that were created in version 4, EndNote 8 or later will not recognize these styles, until they are first edited using EndNote 5, 6 or 7. If you need to use any of these old output styles, you can send them to us here in tech support and we will convert them and send them back to you.
