17:
When Direct Exporting from ProQuest, my results have the author name scrambled. How can I correct this?
|
Answer:
ProQuest has not configured their Direct Export properly, and they have configured the authors improperly in their export.
Authors in ProQuest's direct export file look like:
John Smith
rather than:
Smith, John
The latter is required by the Direct Export format.
ProQuest has a product suggestion page where you can let them know you would like them to correct their format here.
Workaround
-
Do not use the Direct Export option "Export directly to ProCite, EndNote or Reference Manager."
- Use the option to "Download in a format compatible with ProCite, EndNote, Reference Manager and RefWorks."
- This will display a Web page of results you can save in the web browser.
- This can be imported properly using the ProQuest Import Filter which is set to parse the author names, first then last.
