CWYW 25: I am using Endnote X.0.2 for Windows and EndNote Web and I am having problems with all of the EndNote CWYW Tools. How can I fix this?

Answer: EndNote X.0.2 includes a copy of the CWYW tools for both EndNote Web and EndNote X. You do not need to download and install the tools from the website to get the tools loaded into Word. If you have done this, you may want to remove the extra EndNote Web CWYW tools using the following steps:

  1. Quit Word.

  2. Open a command line.

    XP or 2000: Go to the start menu, choose "Run" and type:
    CMD
    Click OK.

    Vista: Go to the start menu. In the search box here, type:
    CMD
    Hold down SHIFT and CTRL and hit the Enter Key.
    You will be prompted to approve the "Windows Command Processor."
    Choose "Continue"

  3. Go to the directory "C:\Program Files\EndNote Web\CWYW"
    At the prompt, type:

    CD "C:\Program Files\EndNote Web\CWYW"

    Note that if you have installed EndNote Web to a different location, you would need to find this CWYW folder in that other location.

  4. From this folder, run the command:

    regsvr32 /u "EndNote Cwyw.dll"

This should remove the extra CWYW toolbar.
