Thomson ResearchSoft Showcases Research and Publishing Tools at Macworld

Makers of EndNote feature bibliographic management and data visualization software—productivity tools for researchers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Carlsbad CA, USA - January 10, 2006
—On January 10-13, at Macworld in San Francisco, Thomson ResearchSoft (www.researchsoft.com), a business of The Thomson Corporation, presents Mac OS X® applications designed to facilitate research, writing and publishing. Attendees can learn about the latest versions of EndNote®—the popular bibliographic software, and RefViz(TM)—a text analysis tool that searches multiple data sources simultaneously and visualizes references to reveal major themes and topics.

“We are pleased to showcase Macintosh® products that benefit the global research community,” said David L. Kochalko, president, Thomson ResearchSoft. “The increased connectivity with research information and expanded Unicode support of EndNote 9 as well as the ability to search multiple data sources simultaneously in RefViz 2 creates new efficiencies for researchers everywhere.”

Support for Spotlight Searches and Expanded Unicode in EndNote 9
Researchers, scholarly writers, librarians and students worldwide use EndNote to search online bibliographic databases, organize references, images and PDF files in any language, and create bibliographies instantly. EndNote 9 supports Spotlight, the new desktop search technology for Mac OS X Tiger. In a single Spotlight search, users can locate EndNote references as well as other files on their Mac system. EndNote 9 also provides enhanced Unicode support so users can work in any language, and increases connectivity to data sources worldwide with expanded record syntax and text encoding. These new features along with other enhancements make EndNote the bibliographic solution for the entire spectrum of international users—from student to professional.

Search for and Visually Analyze References in RefViz
RefViz, the first text analysis and data visualization tool for the researcher’s desktop, provides users with a powerful way to explore references visually for major themes and topics. Researchers can search multiple research databases simultaneously to save time and yield more comprehensive results. RefViz reveals trends and associations in the references, providing an additional level of analysis that allows researchers to find the most relevant citations for their papers. References can be moved easily between RefViz and EndNote for citing references and publishing results faster. The combination of EndNote and RefViz is ideal for researchers in any discipline.
