A free program update is now available to address incompatibilities between EndNote 8.0.0* and Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Microsoft Windows XP. This update provides improved handling of ambiguous citations, preview and library window preferences, and RTF Document Scan as well as other bug fixes and updated content files.

You can update your non-Demo version** of EndNote version 8.0.0 to version 8.0.2 as follows:

1. Run the EndNote program updater.
1. If you can open EndNote 8.0.0 without the program immediately crashing, select “Help / EndNote Program Updates…”. This will start the update wizard; follow the prompts to download and install the 8.0.2 update.
2. If you cannot open EndNote 8.0.0 without crashing, you can update by going to the Start menu, and under Programs select “EndNote / EndNote Program Updates” to start the update wizard.
3. You can also run the update wizard by double-clicking the file called “WiseUpdt.exe” located in the EndNote 8 program folder.
